I just recently found your blog and I'm enjoying your posts while I savor my morning coffee. This post and your kitchen remodel have hit home for me. I have been struggling with issues on colors, paint, and my kitchen. I want to create a timeless, classic kitchen that I will love always. I'm torn between white and stained. My husband wants to paint all the trim & doors cream (not white) and I think that it looks stupid with white vinyl windows. So, every time I think I'm okay with doing stained cabinets and cream trim I panic and go back to white. LOL. My house doesn't get much sun and it's smaller, so ...
Well, you understand.
Love your blog.

My biggest challenge is finding something in the style we prefer...contemporary with some ecletic thrown in...or maybe I have no idea what kind of style hubby and I have...LOL. Perhaps that is my biggest issue..we have no definable style...at least not definable from the decorating magazines' perspective. :)

Also, second biggest challenge is finding a way to do what we want on the budget (nearly non-existent..lol) we have!

LOL...loved your description of "bank robbery in progress" furniture placement...LOL...fortunately, our living room furniture hasn't been scared up against the walls!

I am really enjoying your blog..

Blessings!

My current challenge is lighting. My living room is large, with 18' ceilings. The only source of lighting is a ceiling fan w/lights that is off-center, so about 1/3 of my room is always in the 'dark zone'. I'm hesitant about using a floor or table lamp in that area, as the furniture is not against the wall so the power cord would run across the open area and my grandkids love to run in circles in the room when they visit. ;) Now trying to find some nice pendant lights or sconce lighting for that area.
