Sorry for the delay in getting these posted. I am busy decorating kids rooms! Here are some photos from our tour of the Southern Living Idea House in Dahlonega, Georgia.
I lived in this area for seven years and was surprised by two things: 1) there were only three bedrooms in the house – there were four fireplaces!, and 2) the decorating style was very formal and traditional. Not what I would expect for a home that’s literally perched on the side of a mountain.
The house is for sale at 1.3 million – without furnishings. Enjoy this part of the tour . . .
This is the exterior of the house as you approach from the parking area. You have to go deep into the development and up steep roads to get here but the view is fabulous!

Here’s the living room. The glass doors you see are the entry area. Lots of wallpaper within the insets on the walls. This was a fine weave on these walls.
Here you see the fireplace full front. The harlequin design on the doors is seen throughout the house which is an idea you can use in your own home when you redesign and remodel.
LOVE the windows above the fireplace cubbies! This window is in the upper sitting/den/libary area. I adore how it makes the space feel and love the dimension it gives the living area. I want to do this when we remodel our upstairs area. We have a “what do you do with that space way up there” area in our living room.
The master bedroom/bath are off the living room hall. “Tiffany blue” seemed to be the color theme in this room. Again you see the inset wallpaper which is the very fine weave.
More insets in the beautiful master bathroom. I always like the sconce on top of the mirror treatments. You see more wallpaper in here.
Between the his and her vanities is the tub area. The shower stall is across from it.

One really clever idea that you’ll see in the picture below is the hair dryer/curling irom cabinets in each vanity. There is an electrical box mounted at the top in the back ( the stainless steel box top right is the electrical.) Then there are two stainless containers for keeping your hair dryer and curling irons.
Sorry but I have to run – duty calls. More to come later . . .
