istock 000008345171xsmall1 230x300 Romance InspirationJust a week until Valentine’s Day! I love this holiday because it reminds us to celebrate love – the greatest gift God gives us.  Love can get put on the back burner all too often in our busy, work-a-day lives. It can get shelved while we attend to “more important things” like making a living, being a parent, community involvement, playing taxi driver & social secretary for our families, etc.

But love really is the key ingredient to making life work – and making it worth living.

While Valentine’s Day is about celebrating the love in our lives – it also sparks in me the desire to celebrate romance in my home. So this week I’ll be sharing some “devine” ideas for romancing your home.

Here in NE Ohio it’s still cold and snowy so I like to have a few fresh flowers in the house.  I love the look of white tulips in fish bowls. . . have you ever seen them displayed like this?

I love tulips simple elegance and using a fish bowl is unexpected – the round shape is very feminine and subtly sophisticated and sexy.  For a pop of spring color your tulips could be any color but I love the quiet elegance and tulips in fishbowl1 300x292 Romance Inspirationromance of all white tulips. (The ones picture here are from Restoration Hardware.)

Pick up a fish bowl at the dollar store or Wal-Mart – avoid the ones with the ruffled tops, we want contemporary elegance, not cute kitsch!

Your grocery store will typically have white tulips. Arrange them so they graciously drape over the edge of your bowl or you can cut down the stems to make a tighter bouquet.  Use a very small fish bowl so you don’t have to buy a ton of tulips. This is a romantic little touch that would  be exquisite on a bathroom vanity or night stand.

Displaying fresh flowers in your home is a wonderful way to add romance this time of year. Stay tuned for more ways to celebrate romance in your home this week. Hope you’ll be “devinely” inspired!

I have a few of the fishbowl vases, and I love white tulips as well – thanks for the idea of using them in the bath….not sure why I never thought of that?
