If you don’t live where it snows {or even if you do}
this “melted snowman” is a fun project to make!
It’s fun and easy! Your kids or grand kids will love making this “melted snowman” that they can have fun personalizing.
Here’s a list of the supplies that you will need:
- Footed glass container with a lidded top (I used a footed trifle dish from Southern Living at Home)
- 1 cup white sugar (more or less depending on the size of your container)
- 2 small twigs (to use as arms)
- 5 large black buttons*
- 1 orange button*
- snowflake window clings
- small top hat (I got mine at a local craft store)
- small length of fabric (to use as a scarf)
* Buttons can be a choking hazard – you can substitute with candies or whatever your imagination dreams up
The picture kinda says it all as to how to pull this project together. Just pour the sugar into the glass container. I like to cover the bottom and then to pile it up in the middle just a little.
Make your snowman’s face using the black buttons for two eyes and his smile. The orange button is his nose. Place the sticks on either side of the face down by his smile. These are his arms. I like to choose little branches that have smaller branches coming out at the ends to look like hands/fingers.
Place the cover on the container and pop the black top hat over the lid. Then tie the fabric around the neck of the footed stem of the bowl. I like to place snowflake window clings on the outside of the container. The ones I got a Wal-Mart had “Let It Snow” so I used that one too.
You can have a lot of fun with this – making a cowboy snowman or a snowgirl, snow princess, etc. If you make this project, please let us know and send us a link so we can share our snowmen!
