We had such a nice baby shower on Saturday. My company, Devine Designs, did all the decorating {I am also helping with the design of the nursery}. Many thanks to Becky Carafa for her help and partnership!
Our colors were celery green, black and white. Of course, Amy Atlas was my inspiration along with Hostess with the Mostess and Style Me Pretty.
I found a wonderful “block baby” gift wrap paper in green and white at Pat Catans and used it as “wallpaper” so to speak. We covered this wall and then also made a backdrop for the gift opening area. I think it makes for much better photos to control your backdrops as much as possible {seen in the photo below of the expectant parents}.
I love the 36″ balloons but if you’re not buying them online and buying/renting a helium tank, be prepared to spend $32-$38 EACH! They hold the helium equivilant of 15 balloons! I love the look of the 36″ balloon – so not your typical “balloon bouquet!”
Our theme was “Sweet Baby” and I made the block letters by layering three different papers. There was a polka dot & striped black/cream as our base. Then the green layer with scalloped edges and lastly my giant letter blocks! I used all lower case and liked the look. I painted small wood clothes pins our green and used them to secure the letter blocks to the black ribbon.
The two large black/white polka dot boards are our favor displays. I just wrapped two large foam core boards {duck taping the backs to secure the fabric} and then used white thumb tacks to hold our candy bars. I made the custom wraps for the candy bars and my friend Becky {also a friend of the momma-to-be} did the packaging. I made three different wrappers and we bought various different scrapbook papers for the toppers.
The diaper cake {below} was such a fun and festive addition to the decor. I used it as the centerpiece of the breakfast buffet table. Not surprisingly I found our diaper cake on Etsy {they have such great stuff don’t they?} Terra at Bouncin’ Baby Cakes
baked us a custom cake since our colors were a bit different from traditional baby showers. The momma-to-be LOVED it!
These frames {below – sweetness unlimited} were part of our centerpiece. I got them for just $1.49 each! I designed several different sayings that we placed in the frames and them put them on the tables. I loved how the rhinestones picked up the polka dots of the cake ribbon. I used scalloped edge scrapbook paper as a base to ground the centerpieces so the flower vase and frames weren’t just floating.
We loved pulling this together for the momma-to-be and being inspired by the beautiful Amy Atlas events.
If you’re inspired too, just be prepared for the time commitment – this took an entire day for three of us to create! Our respective husbands were like, “Uh, you’re STILL there? It’s a baby shower!!” Most men just don’t get it.
Well, the women who attended the shower loved and appreciated the transformation of the room. I guess it’s a girl thing, huh? We love to make our surroundings beautiful and when it comes to special events like this, design and decorations are critical.
We had such fun helping to make the day a memorable one with our “devine” design.

Just beautiful! Almost wish I was having another baby! ;0)
I have 4 girls, my oldest is 17 and I’m the decorator for her soccer banquet in a couple of weeks. Any thoughts on what I can do for center pieces?
