With family in town visiting for Easter break, I wasn’t able to post as often this week – so my “Fantasy Friday” is better late than never!
I’m hooked on Habersham – a fabulous planned community in Beaufort, South Carolina. Over the years I’ve fallen in love with homes from Habersham that were featured in Southern Living Magazine (called “The bible of the South” by Wall Street Journal).
At least on the face of it, I think I’d love to retire here. I’ve been to Beaufort, SC quite a few times. I enjoy strolling through the amazing historic district that showcases and preserves Low Country architecture. (As an aside, I also think Plum’s Restaurant has the best shrimp salad sandwich I’ve ever eaten!)

The Habersham community was awarded the “Best Neighborhood Design in America”. It’s a revival of the classic American hometown – something we’ve seemed to have lost in our rush to live in McMansions. As they write on their website: “There was a time when all the ingredients of a town had a purpose and when blended, created a wonderful place that everyone was proud to call home.”
Inspired by the architecture found in historic towns throughout the county, the homes of Habersham are designed with a sense of permanence. Classical detailing and proportion define this timeless architecture.
To enjoy the simple beauty of this community, visit their website . I’m sure you’ll fall in love with
Habersham just like I have!

This sounds like my dream town! I’ve got to check out their website. Thanks!
That makes two of us. It really does seem so idyllic.
I haven’t been to Beaufort in so long, only as close as Hilton Head. But Charleston, south of Broad, is my favorite collection of houses.
I often drive by a “single house revival” in Decatur that I love and another bigger one on Clifton in Druid Hills. I’m never quite sure which I love most: the house style itself or the idea of living where Charleston style houses fit best, in the low country. Both I think.
