house beautiful Green Redesign In House BeautifulI have finally gotten around to looking at my latest issue of House Beautiful (July 2009) and I see that they have an entire story dedicated to a “one-day makeover.”

Funny, the article kind of makes it sound as if “redesign” (using what you have to redecorate your house) is something new, but it’s been around for years. . . nevertheless, I am thrilled to see an entire article in HOUSE BEAUTIFUL! You can read it and see photos here.

Redesign is the ultimate in “green” design because we are re-using what the home owners already have to decorate their homes. And, a client never has to worry if they will like the results or style because we use all the things they love and have collected over the years.

You might be scratching your head wondering HOW using the same stuff can get you a new look? It is a bit of magic, that’s for sure but time and again my clients are amazed at how wonderful and different their ”stuff” looks when I’m done with it.

Some people may think that redesign is nothing more than glorified furniture moving but they’re wrong.  With training, experience and a developed expertise, I coax the space and the room “tells” me what I need to do and where things need to go - I’m like a “room whisperer!” The results can be nothing less than spectacular to home owners who just had no idea what else they could do to the room!

Just a week or two ago I did a redesign on two rooms for a client. She wanted her TV room to be her office and her office (which doubled as a guest room) to become something more than a jumbled mess of the left overs. The process took my assistant Becky and me about five hours to complete. The client was thrilled with the results and here’s what she emailed me just a day later:

“Diana, you REALLY are terrific!!!! I love what you did in my home. It’s incredible and looks like an entirely new house except I didn’t buy a single new thing. I’m ecstatic!” Donna M., Mayfield

Does your “stuff” seem tired? Are your rooms in need of a face lift? Are you frustrated and tired of trying to figure out how to make that “problem” room look good? A one-day-makeover might just be the answer! You’ll have a “new” room in just a day and at a fraction of the price of  buying all new stuff! You can visit my website for details.

My sister had her designer come in and ‘redesign’ her house, as she had just sold her vacation house and wanted to combine the best of the furniture from her vacation house, with the best of her furniture from her primary residence. The results were amazing!
