Happy Friday!! fearrington house front Fantasy Friday: Fearrington House Country Inn

Today’s “Fantasy Friday” comes to us by way of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Fearrington House Country Inn  is one of those places that I think would be perfect for a weekend romantic getaway. Sadly, when I visited a number of years ago, it was a solo adventure. It was still lovely but now I’d like to take my hubby there sometime.

The 35 guest rooms at the inn are infused with the European (and southern) qualities of charm and hospitality. They are clustered around the coutryard or overlook the charming village or parks. Here’s how their website describes the rooms and the inn experience:

“Each guest room at The Fearrington House Cferrington dusk1 300x95 Fantasy Friday: Fearrington House Country Innountry Inn is created with its own unique character – European antiques, original artwork, rich fabrics, marble vanities, and heated towel racks cater to personal comfort. Distinctive touches include canopied beds and pine flooring from a workhouse along the River Thames.  The guest rooms and suites include luxurious amenities such as plush feather beds, micro-fiber robes, European Molton Brown bath products and beautiful fresh flowers.

“Both the traditional English afternoon tea and gourmet breakfast are served in the elegant Fearrington Housefearrington guest room1 Fantasy Friday: Fearrington House Country Inn Restaurant. Inn guests are offered a selection of fine teas, finger sandwiches, delicate pastries, and fresh baked scones with clotted cream and strawberry jam for the traditional English afternoon Tea. Breakfast choices include full English breakfast, seasonal fresh-cut fruit, home-made granola, and eggs Benedict.”

Doesn’t that sound like a wonderful escape? If we ever get to take a trip to Fearrington, I’d definiately have to save my pennies as rooms START at $275/night!  Yes, that’s alot, especially given our economy, so for us this would be a very special treat (and a one-night stay.) They offer a cooking school and I think that would be a perfect excuse for splurging on a “couple’s getaway” vacation.

Beyond the elegant accommodations at the inn, there is also a wonderful village tucked into a rather larger cul de sac, fearrington shoppes 300x110 Fantasy Friday: Fearrington House Country Inn as I remember. It has the most charming shoppes and a quait eatery that made me feel like I was on Martha’s Vineyard! The Farmers’ Market is open on Tuesdays April – Thanksgiving.

I wandered through them for a few hours on the Sunday I visited. The Dovecoat carries Dash & Albert rugs which are some of my favorites (and I am happy to say that they are FINALLY available for sale online! Yeah!)

Fearrington also has a farm. The village has become know for their “belties” – their black and white cfearrington belties 300x84 Fantasy Friday: Fearrington House Country Innows [aka "oreo" cows - how cute is that? ;o)] I remember on my trip there the bfearrington gardens 300x228 Fantasy Friday: Fearrington House Country Innelties were one of the first visual cues that I was nearing Fearrington Village. You can buy stuffed toy belties at The Beltie Shoppe as a momento of your trip.

Lastly, this “tour” would not be complete without mentioning the  stunning gardens tucked here and there within the village. One of my favorites was the kitchen garden behind the inn. While you can wander the gardens on your own as I did (here’s a map – scroll to the bottom), they also have garden tours

Well, I hope you enjoyed our virtual trip to Fearrington Village – let’s hope we can all take a real trip there real soon!
