asheville exterior 300x145 Fantasy Friday: 1889 White Gate Inn & CottageIt’s been a while but Fantasy Friday is back . . . and going back in time to this beautiful 1889 B&B in Asheville, North Carolina called the 1889 White Gate Inn & Cottage.

As soon as I saw this photo (above left) I knew I had to feature this special place on our Fantasy Friday. My mom only lives about 90 minutes from Asheville . . . and I’d love to take a trip to go this B&B.

The gardens are spectacular and apparently so are the breakfasts. Can’t you just see yourself sitting in the garden watching the dragonflies while the birds serenade you with their songs?

One of the reasons I love staying at B&Bs is because they give us lots of ideas to use in our own houses. (If they have an extra comfy bed I always take a peek to see how they dress their beds. What kind of sheets are they using? Are there any mattress pads, feather beds, etc.? )

I love the attention to detail often seen at B&Bs. Do you see anything in the picture above that you could translate and use in your guest room (or even your master suite?) For example, I love the flowers and greenery in this room. They have brought the outside in which helps to create a naturally restful feeling to the space.

Lastly, take a look at this spa bathroom. Sink into that tub and they might have to send search crews in to look you!asheville spa 300x146 Fantasy Friday: 1889 White Gate Inn & Cottage I love the texture of the stone around the tub – an unexpected choice which brings in the natural. Beautifully done!
