Fabulous “Fireplace!”

faux fireplace3 287x300 Fabulous Fireplace!Whenever I work with clients, I always look for ways to be creative as opposed to spending lots of cash – it’s more fun! When I saw this idea online, I thought it was the epitome of creativity and just had to share it with you!

In this case, a rental agreement prohibited painting the walls  . . . you just never know what will spur your creativity!

See, this is not a real fireplace, that’s right, it’s a faux fireplace! LOVE this idea if you don’t have little ones.

To give the room some architectural interest and that all-important focal point, the renter used a vintage mantel she picked up at a salvage yard to create her fireplace.faux fireplace 22 286x300 Fabulous Fireplace!

She beefed up the mantel by stacking about 250 bricks to make this focal point. The carpet beneath the bricks is protected with a plastic painters cloth. When her lease is up, she’ll be able to disassemble her “fireplace” and take it with her. How much fun! I think this is a great idea for a master bedroom, guest room, and basement.

What do you think about our faux fireplace? Doesn’t it just get your creative juices flowing? Love it. Love it. LOVE it!

The fireplace idea is very clever. I did something years ago with bricks. We had a small family room at the end of the house. We made it into a early English room. I even bricked the floor. We then decided to add to the house and went through this room with another room. The old English room became a whatnot room. I had a bench in the room and needed something in front of it so I took bricks-which had been left over from the floor- and stacked them to look like legs for a table. I then took an old kitchen cabinet door and took the inside out. I put a piece of glass into the center of the door. On the glass I made a design. I used something I got from the paint store to do the outline that simulated leaded glass. I then used glass paint to fill in the design. It turned out really cute and I used it as a little table until the glass broke!

Love it! What a great idea-even for those who have a working fireplace but choose not to use it-it’s still fun to dress it up. And for those who enjoy their
fireplace and put it to good use; wouldn’t it be fun to to mix it up a little and
change the mantel? What a way to freshen up a room. And it can be done
inexpensively just by shopping your local salvage yard. Another idea, if you enjoy checking out salvage yards, is to look for vintage staircase railings. They can change the whole look of your staircase/foyer/entry. What fun!
