Fantasy Friday: Dream House Video Tour

by Diana @ The Devine Home on June 26, 2009

00-dh-exterior2In our local paper this morning they have an article on the Dream House. The online version of the article includes a video tour of the main rooms.  Video Tour of 2009 Dream Home Wouldn’t it be a fantasy to win this dream house? Even if you live out of state, who couldn’t use $200,000?

Buying tickets online is easy and just a click away! Unlike other house giveaways I’ve seen online, these tickets are just $12/each – NOT $100+. I love it that our YMCA keeps it real and affordable!

The YMCA Dream House is definitely on my list of beautiful things from my life this past week! Check out where others are finding beauty at Melissa’s Inspired Room.

And since it’s obvious from a week’s worth of posts on the Dream House, guess you can tell I’m hooked on it – check out what others are hooked on this week at Julia’s Hooked On Houses!

Getting online to purchase tickets soon. It is a sign that the drawing for the house is on my 41st Birthday. Wouldn’t I love to take the $200,00 and fix up my GA dream home. Looks great.

That is an interesting idea. They must sell a lot of tickets. I would worry about how much the taxes are if they value it at $400,000.

The winner of the house gets a consult with both a real estate advisor and a financial advisor. Every financial advisor I have discussed this with always say the same thing. Take the house. If you are married currently the captial gains taxes if $500,000 – so they have said if you can make the house your primary residence for two years you can sell the house and pay no capital gains taxes. Of course, you do have taxes on winning the house (local, state and fed) and you will have property taxes to be paid. Again, the financial people I have talked to have said to use the instant equity in the house to pay these taxes. The woman who won the house two years ago decided to take the house based on the advise they were given. Last year’s winner actually bought her tickets with a pool of work friends so they took the money.

I think it would be a nice problem to have . . . ;o)
