Creative Containers

by Diana @ The Devine Home on March 17, 2009

Last year as spring seemed to be taking it’s good ole time getting here and I was desperate for a touch of color, I picked spring boots 225x300 Creative Containersup a pair of polka dots garden boots at TJ Maxx and used them to display some silk daffodils in the foyer. If the house wasn’t currently under seige by workmen, I’d have them there again. I think I’ll just enjoy them here for a while . . .

I also popped some fresh flowers into a “flower pocket” that I bought two years ago at flower sack 222x300 Creative Containersthe Cleveland Botanical Garden. The fabric pocket is lined with a stiff plastic so you can fill it with water and hang your flowers just about anywhere that needs brightening. This photo was taken in our guest bathroom last spring. We were having church friends over for game night and I thought the bathroom needed a little spring color.  Love this little pocket!

It’s amazing where you can find a little beauty in life – polka dot boots and flower pockets.  To see where others are finding a little beauty this spring, pop on over to Melissa’s blog.

Hi Diana,
Those are two great ideas! Just yesterday, I was scoping out Target for a pair of rainboots with the idea that I was going to put them in my foyer with some flowers in them. Of course, they were going to be cute enough that I could wear them when the mood struck me.

I found your blog a couple of weeks ago, but I don’t think I commented. I know. Bad Kimba. I bookmarked you so that I could find you again and I’m so glad that I did. You are doing a fantastic job with your blog! Really impressive!

I’m so glad that I popped back when I did because I saw your post about IKEA. I live about 45 minutes east of Pittsburgh. In bloggy terms, we’re practically neighbors.

Enough prattling. I’ll be back!

Hey Kimba,

Thanks for visiting and posting! I have to admit that I bought a size so I could wear them outside for gardening in the sloggy yard. I have a brown pair that I set out in the fall/winter. Isn’t IKEA just the best? My bank account (and husband) are glad we live two hours away!

Thanks for the kind words about my blog.

What an adorable idea- love the boots- Target has some pretty colorful ones right now- I may need to get me a pair just so I can copy you.
Thanks
Happy Day.

Heading to Target to look for boots so I too can have them in my new foyer..(if I get the house).. Do you think the kids would leave them alone?? Love the ideas!!

Love the boots! I found a sweet little pair one time that were miniature boots…I put some flowers in them and gave them as a teachers gift. They were so sweet! Now you have me wanting a new pair of spring boots to put by the door!

Happy day!
Melissa
