Okay, so 49 is an estimate – but it’s close. I’ve never been that great at math ;o)
In addition to the work on the kitchen & new mud/laundry room, we are also:
- laying reclaimed brick pavers in the foyer
- getting a working washer/dryer in the basement
- making roof repairs from ice damning, and
- finishing ceiling repairs in my office from water damage
Oh, guess I forgot to mention that last week I had a bit of a flood in my office! Yep, last week’s amazing and wonderful warm weather caused ice damning to about half my ceiling. I had 2+” of water sitting in the top of my computer hutch plus there was some additional damage in the living room/basement ceiling. So the guys have had to devote some time to working on that.
We are making great progress on our remodeling. The fireplace was installed yesterday. It’s so cozy. Hubby and I primed and painted the walls in both the mud/utility room and kitchen. The walls in the kitchen are HC-3 from Benjamin Moore Greenmont Silk. It coordinates beautifully with the light fixtures.
The planks for the ceiling should be delivered tomorrow and installed soon there after. We have been informed that our kitchen island and sink will be pulled out on Monday so they can start installing the wood floors. The utility sink was delivered yesterday so the guys said they’ll try to get in in so we won’t be entirely sinkless.
I’ll most likely be making a 6-hour round trip to IKEA in Pittsburgh next week to pick up butcher block counter tops.
I’m still trying to locate tile for the range area because although I actually found the perfect tile at a local place (it’s on a column in the store and they don’t can’t locate the exact tile used). The arched cutout in the wall in the photo below is part of the range nook that will be tiled – when we find it! It’s all coming together . . . We’re about six weeks from completion!

Amazing the difference in the kitchen already… Love the photos!!
Can’t wait to sit in front of the fireplace. Looking good!
I can’t wait to see it all pulled togther, colors and such! I am just as excited, as if it were my own kitchen remodel.
Finding the right tile is so hard. We are doing a complete kitchen remodel on the house we just bought. It was tough trying to finde a tile that went with both the granite counter and the cabinets. Fortunately, we found the perfect tile and it’s not a budget buster either. We located it at Ceramic Tile Distributers on Warner Road in Valley View. The staff is very helpful there. Although, be prepared for sensory overload because they have at least 1000 options.
Can’t wait to see it all in person…. it is going to be a huge difference.
